Today I woke up around noon. I then visited the local Tim Horton's and stood in line briefly. All in all a could have gone to Theresa's Dinner down the street fifty meters and had a full fledged breakfast in a spotless uncomerciallized unphotographed and videotaped experience. Suffice to say I feel every time I walk into a Tim Horton's that my privacy is gone out the door.
At any rate I then drove over to the Castledowns area of Edmonton to pick up my laundry. There is a great little laundromat over there and they have been doing my laundry for over two years with surprise surprise no increase over the base one dollar a pound for the service. It all comes back to me folded. Bonus for time management focused me.
Then I decided to take a trip and document all the Dads doing the Edmonton Pick-n-Pull routine. I needed a new turn signal switch for my car anyhow as the old one broke in the winter and it was getting quite annoying to drive. I walked a couple of rows of chevy products and soon had a couple suitable candidates.
Switches in hand I soon ended up in the long line up staffed by two cashiers. The person in front of me soon commented on how it was like the Tim Horton's after I prompted how it was worse than a bank line up. I plasterd a fan fold of my business cards onto the small cork board advertising space they provide there.
The line progressed faster than the bank line ups or Tim Horton's line ups. I approched the cashier and flashed my two signal turn switches. He quickly waved me on. Bonus I just got something for free. They could have easily charged me upwards of twenty-five dollars for the two parts but choose not to. Thanks Edmonton Pick-n-Pull. I've got some pictures and I'll eventually catch up to this article.
Then I ventured down to the 124th street area of Edmonton. I chated with the owner of Booknoosis. He is selling out - reason - wanting more out of life. All in all I don't think ten-thousand is all that bad of a price for a bookstore. Rent seems reasonable. I would rather catagoize and publish the books in the store online but a quick walk around and alone that task seems daunting. I spoke with the owner previously a number of years ago. He thanked me for the business card of his that I published.
Then I caught this live reading of a drama group at the internet cafe accross the street where I am writing this article. The name of the place is Conrad's Sugar Bowl. I've been here a few times. I would rather start my own using thin clients and using only Linux but time will tell.
That is about it for now. It is 3:26 PM so perhaps I'll end up doing dinner with my Dad later on but I doubt it. Time for some fresh air.
Note: Conrad's Sugar Bowl has a nice patio. Outside there is a very nice area with flowers and a cottonwood tree. When I went out there were lots of streamers of caterpillers there. Small green larvae slidding down on their silk threads getting set to coccoon. |
